An introduction.. albeit a belated one.

Nourish&Nest-March-2
Let's just pretend that I am casually drinking a cup of tea, blissfully unaware that Aaron is taking a photo of me, ha ha! ;)

Hi there! I have been sharing in this space for 8 months now and the Nourish and Nest online store officially launched over 5 months ago so I figure it is high time that I introduce myself a little.

I am Tara, owner of Nourish and Nest. I hand-pour our candles and nourishing body bars (in our backyard shed that we are slowly turning into a legitimate studio) and curate the other goods of ritual that you'll find in our store. I live in a 100-year-old house on the NSW Coal Coast with my husband Josh, our 3 daughters (Savannah 6, Alexis 4 and Lucia 1), 3 chickens and a mango tree.

I desire to live passionately, love extravagantly, cultivate community, do my good and find the beauty in the everyday. The reality doesn't always match up with this desire but I am giving it a red hot go regardless.

I have big plans for Nourish and Nest and am humbled that people come to this space and love what we are doing - it blows my mind to be honest.

Jacqui from Rethink Nutrition (who shared one of her delicious recipes with us here) nominated Nourish and Nest for a Liebster Award and as that requires me to answer a few questions, I thought this was a good opportunity to introduce myself a little further. Thanks Jacqui xxx

Q1. What prompted you to start blogging?

It was (and is) as important to me to convey the philosophy behind Nourish and Nest as it was to sell our wares in the online store. The blog allows me to share that concepts of enjoying small rituals, embracing simplicity and finding beauty in the everyday. I also believe wholeheartedly in supportive creative communities (online and off) that inspire one another to live well. The hope that Nourish and Nest could be part of such community motivated me to actually begin this process.

Q2. Do you have a favourite local cafe?

I sure do. There is a decent little coffee scene emerging in my town and surrounds so there are a few good options at the moment but At All & Sundry is definitely my hang. Amy from the cafe is actually our guest contributor for Nourish and Nest Kitchen next month and I am more than a little excited to introduce her to those of you who don't have the pleasure of already knowing her.

Q3. List 5 food items you always have stocked in your fridge or pantry

Yoghurt, garlic, sweet potato, parmesan, cab sav.

Q4. A favourite quote 'Always be on the lookout for the presence of wonder' - E.B. White

Q5. Tea or coffee and how do you take it?

Coffee - strong and out of necessity (I have 3 little girls and a habit of forgetting to go to bed at night). Tea - any which way and for pleasure.

Q6. What is one favourite place you have visited and one you would like to visit?

I have been blessed to have seen a few diverse pockets of our wide world including spending a brief amount of time in the south of India over 10 years ago. I can't wait to return to the beauty and the colour and the chaos of India with my little tribe in tow one day.

Q7. What book(s) is on your bedside table right now?

'The Architecture of Happiness' by Alain de Botton

Q8. Do you have a favourite, most thumbed-through cook book?

Hands-down Nigella Lawson's 'Feast'. It honours the soul-nourishing qualities of authentic, un-pretentious gatherings, which I love.

Q9. Are you a messy cook or a tidy chef?

Utterly messy. And old flatmate once dubbed me the Queen of dirty dishes, I wish I could say motherhood has improved me but alas...

Q10. Describe Rethink Nutrition in 3 words

Real, inspiring & delicious.
